Lean Roof
Lean Roof repurposes rigid sails from the luxury yacht, the Maltese Falcon, to create a sheltered space. The sail’s form allows for rainwater runoff to the sides, while using the sail’s aerodynamic abilities to direct passing wind downwards. Using reciprocal forces, the roof structure comprises of eight metal boomerang-shaped trusses which lean against each other. The staggered height of each sail, as well as the arrangement of connections to the ground creates spaces for use, sheltered from the tropical heat and rain.
